| Uses | Researchers reported the preparation of latex particles from 2-(tert-butylamino)ethyl methacrylate (TBAEMA) using aqueous emulsion polymerization. The preparation of PTBAEMA-functionalized polyolefin fibers via ATRP and an azide-functional initiator has been reported. Poly[2-(tert-butylamino)ethyl methacrylate](PTBAEMA) is a neutral polymer, which is inherently biocidal with potential application in antifouling paints and coatings. The major role of PTBAEMA is to displace Ca2+ and/or Mg2+ ions from the outer membrane of the bacteria, which is accordingly disorganized and finally disrupted. This pendent bulky secondary amine does not need quaternization for antibacterial properties[1-2]. |
