| Synthesis | 1151-14-0 84-51-5 General procedure for the synthesis of 2-ethylanthraquinone from 2-(4-ethylbenzoyl)benzoic acid: (2) 2-(4-ethylbenzoyl)benzoic acid prepared as described above and concentrated sulfuric acid were sequentially passed through a piping system comprising a T-type mixer, a reactor A, a Y-type mixer, a reactor B and a separator. In this system, 2-(4-ethylbenzoyl)benzoic acid enters the T-mixer at 180° C., while concentrated sulfuric acid enters the T-mixer at 50° C. The mass-volume ratio of the two is 1 g:3 mL. The mixing temperature in the T-mixer is 50° C., and the residence time is 35 seconds. Subsequently, the mixture enters reactor A and is reacted at 120°C for 30 minutes. Next, it was passed through a Y-mixer at 40°C and finally into Reactor B where the reaction was completed at 50°C to produce 2-ethyl anthraquinone in 95.5% yield. |
