4) Saltation reaction: 22.1 g of (3-fluorophenyl)hydrazine was dissolved in 15.4 mL of 37% hydrochloric acid and stirred at 65 °C until crystals precipitated from the reaction solution. The reaction solution was then cooled to 20 °C and the solid product was collected by filtration. The filter cake was washed with acetone and dried to give 24.4 g of 3-fluorophenylhydrazine hydrochloride with 99.2% purity and 39.1% yield.
