DEUTERIUM CHLORIDE Usage And Synthesis

UsesDeuterium chloride solution has been used to study:
  • The kinetics of chitosan reacetylation using acetic anhydride and acetic acid.
  • Regioselective terminal group activation of chitosan by thioacetylation.
  • The complex formation between cyclodextrin and captopril in aqueous solution using NMR spectroscopy.

Synthesis

Step 1: Firstly, argon is passed to the reaction device, phosphorus trichloride is added to the reaction bottle, and then heavy water is added dropwise to form deuterohydrochloric acid solution, when the deuterohydrochloric acid solution in the reaction bottle is saturated, the deuterohydrochloric acid gas is overflowed into the primary heavy water absorption bottle.

Step 2: after saturation of the deuterohydrochloric acid in the first heavy water absorption bottle, the deuterohydrochloric acid gas overflowed into the second heavy water absorption bottle, after saturation of the deuterohydrochloric acid in the second heavy water absorption bottle, the deuterohydrochloric acid gas overflowed into the third heavy water absorption bottle.

Step 3: After the reaction of phosphorus trichloride is completed, ferric chloride is added to the reaction bottle at room temperature. Step 4: Deuterium gas is introduced into the reaction bottle, and the deuterium gas reduces the iron ions contained in the reaction bottle to iron monomers.

The present method provides a deuterated hydrochloric acid production process which effectively removes the phosphorus in the reaction bottle and improves the yield of deuterated hydrochloric acid.
