SynthesisPraseodymium chloride is obtained by the action of hydrochloric acid and praseodymium dioxide.  
Purification MethodsIts 1M solution in 6M HCl is passed twice through a Dowex-1 anion-exchange column. The eluate is evaporated in a vacuum desiccator to about half its volume and allowed to crystallise [Katzin & Gulyas J Phys Chem 66 494 1962].
