(-)-Hydroxycitric acid lactone catalyzes the extramitochondrial cleavage of citrate to oxaloacetate and acetyl-CoA, limits the availability of acetyl-CoA units required for fatty acid synthesis[1][2].

In Vivo	(-)-Hydroxycitric acid lactone (1000-3000mg/kg; fed for a period of 4 weeks) significantly decreases body weight at 2000 and 3000 mg/kg in chicken[2]. Animal Model: 1-day-old male broiler chickens[2] Dosage: 1000, 2000, 3000 mg/kg Administration: Fed for a period of 4 weeks Result: Body weight and average daily gain (ADG) in the 2000 mg/kg and 3000 mg/kg were significantly lower.
