| Synthesis | 7424-70-6 400607-04-7 The general procedure for the synthesis of 9-bromo-10-(1-naphthalenyl)anthracene using 9-(naphthalen-1-yl)anthracene as starting material was as follows: 9-(naphthalen-1-yl)anthracene (88 g, 0.29 mol) was dissolved in dimethylformamide (700 mL) in a 2 L four-necked round-bottomed flask. Subsequently, a solution of N-bromosuccinimide (NBS, 70.7 g, 0.4 mol) in dimethylformamide (200 mL) was added slowly and dropwise. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was poured into water to precipitate 9-bromo-10-(1-naphthyl)anthracene (108 g, 97.5% yield). |
