BETA-PHENYLPROPIOPHENONE Usage And Synthesis
| Chemical Properties | White crystals or crystalline powder or flakes.M.P. 73℃. Practically insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol and oils. Mild and sweet, balsamic-floral odor of excellent tenacity. |
| Uses | 3-Phenylpropiophenone is a potential antioxidant, found in fruit extracts, and is synthesized as a part of last stage applications to natural products and pharmaceuticals. |
| Definition | ChEBI: A member of the class of dihydrochalcones that is acetophenone in which one of the hydrogens of the methyl group is replaced by a benzyl group. |

| Synthesis | By the flavonoid glycosides (immature citrus content of up to 20%, such as hesperidin, with hesperidinase cut off the rhamnose residues on the orange peel sugar base, hydrogenation in alkaline conditions, get glucose hesperidin dihydrochalcone (sweet taste, but the solubility of only 0.1%), and then starch glucosidic glycosyltransferase to make a few glucose groups, that is, solubility of up to 1%, the commercially available commodities are naringin dihydrochalcone and Naringin dihydrochalcone and neohesperidin dihydrochalcone are commercially available. It is obtained by hydrogen reduction of benzylideneacetophenone. The reaction is carried out in the solvent ethyl acetate, the yield is 81-95%. |
