DI-N-HEXYL PHTHALATE Usage And Synthesis

Chemical PropertiesThe structural formula of DiC6P varies because the iso-alcohols used in the manufacture contain several isomers. DiC6P is a watery white liquid with a mild odor.It is a liquid from -33°C (pour point) to 340–350°C (boilingpoint). The vapor pressure is 0.01 mmHg (100°C). DiC6P isessentially insoluble in water, but it is soluble in organicsolvents. It has a specific gravity of 1.01.
UsesDi-n-hexyl Phthalate is a Phthalate derivative and an organic extract contaminant found in drinking water, which was shown to activate Nrf-2-Mediated Antioxidant response in human cell line.
UsesIts major use is as a plasticizer.
Production MethodsDiC6P is manufactured by the reaction of phthalic anhydridewith isohexanol in the presence of an acid catalyst.
DefinitionChEBI: Di-n-hexyl phthalate is a 2-hydroxyisophthalic acid.
