Anticancer mechanisms in this process rely on inhibition of DNA synthesis, induction of apoptosis, etc. It is a click chemistry reagent, it contains an Alkyne group and can undergo copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAc) with molecules containing Azide groups.
