DescriptionBis(tert-butyldioxyisopropyl)benzene (BIPB 40) is a bifunctional peroxide formulation used for crosslinking natural and synthetic rubbers, as well as thermoplastic polyolefins. it is a generalpurpose dilkyl peroxide, 40% ctve ingredient on CaCO3 in granule form for ease of dispersion in an elastomer compound and to control dusting.

Synthesis

A production method of Bis(tert-butyldioxyisopropyl)benzene, comprising the following steps: adding reactant A: 1kg of tert-butylhydrogen peroxide in low concentration to the reaction kettle, and then adding 2g of sodium carbonate and 150g of sodium sulfate respectively to the reactant A for stirring in order to purify it, and then after about 15mins of static standing, delamination, and draining off of the bottom aqueous phase, and the concentration of the purified reactant A is between 68%, then Add reactant B: 0.5kg of diisopropylbenzyl alcohol, and then add 90g of strong oxidizing catalyst C, 500g of sulfuric acid with a concentration of 65% for the reaction, the reaction time is about 1.0h, atmospheric pressure, the temperature is controlled between 50 ??, after the reaction is over, 500g of deionized water is added, the temperature of the water is between 25 ??, stirring for about 15min, after static, stratification and draining of the water phase in the lower part of the reactor, the upper oil phase is the crude diisopropylbenzyl alcohol, which is the oil phase of the crude diisopropylbenzoic alcohol. The upper oil phase is the crude di(tert-butylperoxyisopropyl)benzene product, the content of about 80%; the crude product with 20% sodium hydroxide solution, 60 ?? hot water to be washed to get the refined product, the content of more than 92%.
