Its explosion hazard ismitigated by mixing the peroxide with inert solid. It decomposesviolently or explosively at temperatures 0–10°C owing toself-accelerating exothermic decomposition. Several recordedexplosions were due to shock, heat, or friction; amines andcertain metals can cause accelerated decomposition (12d).
