DIETHYL AZELATE Usage And Synthesis

UsesDiethyl azelate (DEA) is a plasma membrane fluidiser with broad immunomodulatory activity for the treatment of brown recluse spider bites. Topical application of DEA eliminates the sequelae of brown recluse spider poisoning in humans within two weeks. In vitro, DEA inhibits brown recluse spider venom and rPLD-induced haemolysis, and inhibits phospholipase A2 activity in a dose-dependent manner.
