Difloxacin Usage And Synthesis

DescriptionDifloxacin (INN) is a second-generation, synthetic fluoroquinolone antibiotic used in veterinary medicine,it has broad-spectrum, concentration dependent, bactericidal activity; however, its efficacy is not as good as enrofloxacin or pradofloxacin.
Mechanism of actionDifloxacin mainly acts on bacterial deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) helicase, inhibiting DNA replication and transcription, thereby affecting the normal shape and function of DNA to achieve bactericidal purposes.
Physical propertiesWhtie-Cream to Yellowish Crystalline Powder
UsesDifloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibacterial structurally related to norfloxacin.
DefinitionChEBI: A quinolone that is pefloxacin in which the ethyl group at position 1 of the quinolone has been replaced by a p-fluorophenyl group. A broad-spectrum antibiotic effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, it is used (usuall as the monohydrochloride salt) for the treatment of bacterial infections in dogs.
