| Synthesis | Epoxidized soybean oil is derived from soybean oil, but it requires a series of reactions to generate. Soybean oil is epoxidized with peroxycarboxylic acid in the presence of catalysts and stabilizers to produce a crude product, which is refined to an industrial product. The peroxycarboxylic acid here is usually obtained by reacting hydrogen peroxide with formic acid (or acetic acid). Formic acid and hydrogen peroxide in the presence of sulfuric acid, the formation of peroxycarboxylic acid, and then reacted with soybean oil, the formation of epoxide soybean oil, peroxycarboxylic acid restored to formic acid. The soybean oil, formic acid, sulfuric acid, and benzene stirring and mixing, slowly add hydrogen peroxide drops, until the reaction temperature began to fall, the reaction is the end point. Reaction liquid static separation of the lower layer of waste acid water, the oil layer first neutralized with soda ash, and then washed to neutral, after the separation of water, the oil layer of steam distillation, the remaining products for vacuum distillation, to remove low-boiling substances and water, and then filtered by the pressure that is the finished product. |
